How to light an outdoor high school oval synthetic pitch for football or rugby play?
No matter for high school or college artificial turf, we will have unique lighting requirement and design. The radius or area varies a lot. If we have a 60 meter-radius field for football or rugby training, we will need (3.14 * 60 * 60) Area * 350 lux = 3,960,000 lumens; hence, we need at least 30,000 watt LED oval sports field flood lamps! If the have the extra-high pole, we will need about 35,000 watt to 40,000W LED lights! This is just for LED, if you select halogen lamps, it will need 210,000 watt. And thus, you can see LED flood lamps can save up to 85% energy for the artificial turf lighting.
