Good energy saving effect of led light bulb’s usage in half for college

The University in question is DePaul University of Chicago. DePaul's claim to fame is being the largest Catholic University in the United States, as well as the largest private, non-profit university in the Midwest. They've taken a big step toward energy efficiency by replacing the metal halide HID light bulbs in their parking garage with energy efficient LED light bulbs. The metal halide bulbs ran at 210 watts each, which is slightly more than double the amount of energy required to operate the 90-watt LEDs.

In additional to using 60% less energy, these LED light bulbs are also maintenance-free, which contributes to the workload reduction inherent in light bulbs that last over six years. Durable and robust, these lamps meet challenging environments like high-traffic outdoor areas head on and live to tell the tale. LED light bulbsof course have quite a steep initial investment involved, but the payback period is greatly shortened because they only need to be replaced about once every six years.

DePaul University will be able to reap the financial benefits of this LED light bulb retrofit relatively quickly.

Parking garages are a particularly suitable place for new lighting. How many parking garages have you been to that are lit by dreary and dismal yellow sodium discharge lights? Plus, most parking garage lights are on constantly with no downtime. That's the perfect situation for LED light bulbs; they're able to provide much more pleasing light while withstanding the vibration of traffic, and they have the lifetime to make 24/7 operation not a problem.

LED light bulbs in parking garages is just one of many solutions provided by energy efficient lighting technology. LEDs can be customized to provide just about any color light as well, which allows for a wide range of applications. Everyone can benefit from energy efficient lighting, not just businesses and schools!
