Indoor Flood Lights

LED Lighting for Art Studio

Lighting for art studio is essential for painters. Being able to see the object (brightness) is not enough, the drawers have to see the accurate color (high CRI) to produce the best artwork. For beginners, good lighting will help them identify the genuine colors and reduce their eye fatigue. Let’s explore how our LED flood lights are applied to art gallery and workshop, and why should we replace from metal halide, HPS, fluorescent to LED.

Lighting Design Tips for Art Studio

1. The Lighting Setup Should be Bright Enough in Studio

We can consider the power consumption (wattage) and the lighting efficiency (lumen output) of the lighting setup. For instance, under the same power consumption, fluorescent and LED give out different brightness because they have different lighting efficiency.

The efficiency of fluorescent is around 50 to 60 lm/W while LED has 130 to 150 lm/W, and hence LED is regarded as the energy-saving light source. Hence, after the fluorescent, or other HID lighting replacement, your running cost (electricity bill) is greatly reduced.

How bright should art studio be? According to the general lighting requirement, the brightness of a commercial art studio should have 500 lux. Please feel free to drop us a message to contact our lighting design to select the right power of LED lights.

2. High CRI LED Lighting for Art Studio

CRI is another important parameter we need to consider before buying. High CRI lighting allows the painters to see the real color of the sculpture, canvas and other artworks. The maximum CRI of our LED lighting solution is 95, which is fairly near to the value of sunlight (100). Normally for community art studio, CRI of 80 would be sufficient.

3. Less Heat Emitted by the Lights inside Art Studio

led-lighting-for-painting-workshopLED is a wise choice for art workshop because it emits less heat than the conventional lighting such as incandescent and fluorescent. High room temperature causes a lot of problem such as affecting the properties of paints, as well as affecting the texture of the drawing papers. It also increases the burden of the air conditioning and thus it increases your electricity bill. Nonetheless, our LED turns >95% energy into light instead of waste heat, which is still cool even operating for a long period of time of >8 hours.

4. Flickering Free LED Lights to Reduce Eye Fatigue

Have you ever tried to paint under a flickering light? If you have, the eyes will be strained very soon, and you cannot continue your work. It is because our eyes need to adapt to the strobing lights. However, our LED lights have the latest anti-glare and flick-free system that suppress the flickering up to 99.7%, which greatly improve the lighting setup of art studio.

5. Select the Proper Color Temperature

5000 to 6000K is the best choice for workshop because it is close to the natural daylight.

6. Dimmable Lights to Save Energy inside Art Workshop

Dimming function gives a flexible control on the brightness of the lighting at twilight. When the sunlight is not bright enough, we can turn on the indoor lights a little bit to achieve comfortable illumination.
