To light up the sea surface for navigation, it takes at around 150 to 300 lux level. It is because the bright lighting level allows us to identify the size and shape of the approaching watercraft.

For fishing, we will need around 200 lux or more green light.

For instance, for a trawler using 5000 watt LED lights in total, the running cost of the lighting on fishing boat would be 5000W x 8 hours x $0.12 /1000 = $4.8 (daily), and $144 (monthly). If you are using halogen lights, it takes approx. 50000 watt (10 times higher than LED) to generate the same brightness, and hence the running cost of halogen bulbs would be $48 (daily), $1440 (monthly).
