1. Brightness (Lux) Level of Castle Tower

It takes around 20 to 50 lux to light up the facade of the tower. Depending on the height and material of the out wall, our engineers will design the best lighting for barbican. If we need to enhance the security and safety of the castle, the brightness level will raise to 100 to 200 lux, however, and we will need to add extra luminaires.

2. Metal Halide & Halogen Replacement

If your existing castle lighting system is using metal halide as the light source, you might have experienced frequent replacement of lights. One of our clients reflected to us that the lumen output of metal halide lights depreciated after 1 year. The light becomes dim, says 5 to 10 lux on the curtain wall, and the castle out wall became less appealing.

By replacing the metal halide lights with LED, we can enjoy 80,000 hours life span, which is equivalent to 30 years using time based on 7 hours using time per day. This huge difference allows us to save tons of maintenance cost.

After replacing the corroded parts, the castle can use LED lights now.

As for halogen LED replacement, the major incentive is that we can save running cost of the lamp due to electricity. To light up a medium-scaled castle, curtain wall, tower and other components, sometimes we will need up to 50,000 to 100,000 watt halogen bulbs. It is because halogen lights have only 10 to 22 lm/W lighting efficiency (comparing with 130 to 150 lm/W of LED lights); hence, by switching to LED lights, the power consumption is dropped to 1/10 of the original value, which help reduce the running cost.
