Stadium Lights

LED Lights for Diving Stadium & Pool

led lights for diving stadium-front viewNo matter for standard or top-class diving stadium, lighting is vital for diving players, judge, and spectators. This illumination should be bright. uniform and flicker-free for HDTV or 4K broadcasting. The biggest difference between the diving pool lighting and the indoor gymnasium is that the water surface is reflective, and thus special consideration is needed. LED lights are the best light source as it has built-in anti-glare function, which is able to replace metal halide, HPS, halogen flood lamps. Waterproof is also essential because of high concentration of mist inside the stadium.

1. The Diving Stadium Lights Should be Glare Free

light-reflection

Due to the reflection of water, the glare control of the lighting in the diving stadium is more difficult to solve when comparing to other sports lawn field or concrete floor. Since glare is harmful to the human eye and affects the performance of athletes. The professional diving project usually impose vigorous glare control requirement.

How to control the glare?

1. Apart from water surface, we also need to see if there is any reflective material on the wall, especially for indoor swimming pool. If yes, we need to avoid placing the lighting fixtures to near to the reflective surface. If you want to know the proper distance, please feel free to consult our engineers. You can approach them by filling in our contact form.

2. Adjusting the luminaires’ projection angle can reduce the glare. In general, the projection angle of the lamps in the gymnasium is no more than 60°, and that for diving hall is less than 50 to 55°. It is because a more direct lighting causes more glare on water surface.

3. If the diver can look at the light directly, the strong light may irritate them. Hence, the flood lights should be installed as high as possible on the ceiling, which causes less discomfort on their vision.

4. Using indirect lighting further improve the lighting experience on diving stadiums. We can direct the high-power LED lights to the ceiling and use the reflected lights to light up the swimming pool. Although indirect lighting can instantly solve the glare issue, the disadvantage is that it consumes more energy.

2. CRI, Lux, Color Temp and Uniformity of LED Lighting for Diving Pool

In order to have better diving stadium lighting system, they should have high CRI up to 75 to 80 to support broadcasting.

For the world-class lighting, the vertical illumination should have at least 1500 lux, which is relatively high value when comparing to community swimming & diving pool. A full photometric design should be obtained in advance to predict the lux value. We have a team of lighting design to help.

The color temperature should be around 4500 to 6500K, which is the cool white color.

Generally, uniformity is at least 0.6 to 0.7 for Olympic or international arena to give better user experience.

3. The Lighting Fixtures Should be Energy Saving

energy saving LED lights for diving pool

LED is the best type of lighting fixture to retrofit metal halide, halogen or HPS diving stadium lamps because of LED’s high lighting efficiency of 130 to 150 lm/W. Under the same power consumption, LED gives more lumen and thus you can save up to 84% energy after doing the replacement. Using this kind of lights can reduce your running cost and electricity cost in long run.

4. IP66 is the Minimal Waterproof Rating for Diving Stadium Flood Lights

The diving swimming pool is a high-humidity environment. If the lighting and other equipment does not have any waterproof protection, they will be out or order very soon. Our LED lights have IP66 waterproof rating and anti-corrosive structural design; therefore, they are suitable to the indoor swimming pool that has high concentration of mist. Our flood lights have life span of 80000 hours.
